Walking the Walk

We are delighted to announce that as part of Professional Care Workers Week we will be taking part in The Care Workers’ Charity Peak District Challenge. A crew of CarePlanner colleagues with a penchant for long walks and a distaste for thinking things through have committed to the 25km trek in September.

The purpose of the Trek is to raise money for the incredible work the Care Workers Charity does supporting carers. We are aiming to raise at least £1200 for the cause. CarePlanner are matching every £ raised by the team to help maximise the support we can raise for carers.

Fundraising Events

As part of our ongoing effort to incentivise you fine folk to donate to the cause, we will be running some additional events for everyone to get involved in and enjoy.
These will be announced on our social media over the next few weeks, but we can reveal the first one right now!

Digital Table Quiz

We are organising a digital table quiz at 7pm on September 8th!
It’s £5 to enter per person, with eight rounds of different topics put together by our Managing Director and Trek Captain Mark Gutteridge to determine who is the mightiest quizzer.
The prize will be splitting the pot with the fundraisers, so invite as many people as you can (and win their money!)

When signing up please put your name from the signup sheet in with your donation on our JustGiving page so we can confirm you have paid your entrance fee.

Meet the Team

Managing Director – Mark Gutteridge
“I’m doing the trek as I love a challenge and am still working on getting back in shape from ‘lockdown bod’! I’m also really proud to be raising money for the CWC as it is a hugely important cause and not well known outside of the Care industry, which is something we are committed to addressing at CarePlanner.”

Peak District Trek Lorcán

Marketing Manager – Lorcán Murray
“I’m doing this Trek because I am a huge supporter of the Care Workers Charity’s ongoing assistance to carers and only a little afraid of Ayesha, plus a friend recently tricked me into hiking and it’s actually pretty fun.”

Integration Manager – Hayley Booth
“I am taking part in this trek as not only do I love getting out for a hike in nature, but feel it’s important to support and celebrate our care workers for the important part they play in our society.”

Peak District Trek Curtis

QA Engineer – Curtis Cridland
“Having been a carer for a number of years I understand the challenges and hard work that goes into providing care for others. Care is one of the most undervalued careers in our society despite it being one of the most physically and mentally demanding. Anything that can help see carers get the assistance they need is a great step in the right direction!”

The Care Workers’ Charity

Care Workers Charity Peak District Trek

The Care Workers Charity are an invaluable member of the social care community. It was founded in 2009 with the objective of supporting current and former care workers with one-off crisis grants. COVID was an incredible test for carers, and the CWC played a vital role in supporting thousands of them through one of the hardest periods in their lives.

Thousands of carers were able to feed their families, heat their homes and continue to support some of the most vulnerable people in our society thanks to the CWC’s Crisis Grants.
That’s why we are incredibly proud to be a partner with this amazing charity, you can find out more about their work here: https://www.thecareworkerscharity.org.uk/about-the-cwc/
